Susan M. Sheridan, PhD – Director, National Center for Research on Rural Education (R2Ed)

Susan M. Sheridan, PhD As Director of the National Center for Research on Rural Education, Dr. Sheridan’s responsibilities include overseeing every aspect of the Center and the four cores. She is responsible for monitoring fiscal and administrative functions, and the fidelity of the center’s programmatic structure to ensure successful implementation and management of the Center and its associated projects. Dr. Sheridan is the Principal Investigator on the Family-School Partnerships in Rural Settings supplementary study and the recently funded CBC in Rural Communities project awarded by IES.

Todd A. Glover, PhD – Director, Research Operations Core

Todd A. Glover, PhDDr. Glover's functions involve the execution, operation, and oversight of research studies; development and pursuit of related studies; and evaluation and synthesis of research outcomes. Members of this core are principal investigators, co-investigators, and project managers on each planned research project; leaders of related studies; and other key personnel involved as various studies become active within the R2Ed Center.

Gwen L. Nugent, PhD – Director, Rural Education Leadership Institute Core

Gwen L. Nugent. PhDDr. Nugent's role is to develop a broadly accessible infrastructure (e.g., training, communication of scientific knowledge) for research, development, and dissemination to inform the rural education field on a national level.

Gina M. Kunz, PhD – Director, Rural Outreach and Coordination Core

Gina M. Kunz, PhDDr. Kunz will maintain close contact with rural sites involved in projects, solicit input and involvement from additional schools and districts in rural settings to broaden outreach and capacity, and maintain contact with the larger rural research community. This core houses the Steering Committee and the various Advisory Boards.

James A. Bovaird, PhD – Director, Statistics and Research Methodology Core

James A. Bovaird, PhDDr. Bovaird will direct and provide state-of-the-science statistical and methodological support for the rural education scientists, as well as database development and management services. Core members include faculty and staff of the Statistics and Research Methodology (SRM) Support Unit of the Nebraska Center for Research on Children, Youth, Families and Schools (CYFS).

Tanya Ihlo, PhD Dr. Ihlo is an Assistant Research Professor at the Nebraska Center for Children, Youth, Families, and Schools and Project Manager for the Nebraska Response-to-Intervention (RtI) Consortium.

Jon Pedersen, PhD – Science Inquiry Evaluation Study

James A. Bovaird, PhDDr. Pedersen is a Professor of Science Education and Director of Science Education for the Center for Mathematics, Science and Computer Education at the UNL.

Ed Shapiro, PhD – Project READERS and Identification Study

James A. Bovaird, PhDDr. Shapiro is the Director of the Center for Promoting Research to Practice and Professor of School Psychology at Lehigh University. He serves as co-PI of the identification study and the reading/RTI evaluation project, as well as coordinates with Pennsylvania schools and stakeholders for the sampling plan to be used in the Identification study.
